Personal Income Tax

There are a couple different ways by which you can pay your personal income taxes to the CRA. Either you can use your bank’s online bill payment feature, or you can pay through the CRA’s website. Both methods have been outlined below:

Online Banking

These are general instruction. The placement and names of menu options may be different based on each bank.
Step 1: Log in to your bank website
Step 2: Select the “Bill Payment” from the Menu section
Step 3: Select “Add a Payee”.
Step 4: Under the Payee search box, type “CRA” and select the appropriate Payee name:

  • CRA Personal Income Tax – 20XX Tax Return (To make payment towards the current (most recently due) tax return)
  • CRA Personal Income Tax – 20XX Tax Instalment (To make payment towards next year’s taxes per instalment instructions provided by MMH)
  • CRA Personal Income Tax – 20XX Amount Owing (General personal income tax amount owing – not for the current or next tax year)
  • Step 5: Enter the SIN number and modify Payee’s name, if required. Click on “Next” to complete the process. Now, the selected payee has been to your list of Payees.
    Step 6: To make payment, select the payee that you just created from previous steps and click “Pay”.
